Are you a fan of the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy? If you are, then I’m sure you’ve imagined what the fictional character’s (Christian Grey) apartment looks like. In the book, the billionaire’s penthouse is in Escala, a luxury apartment complex in Seattle, Washington. Would you be surprised to know that Escala very much exists? That the existing penthouse was the author’s inspiration for the description of Christian’s home in the books? Now, that I’ve got your attention…here it is!! Your first stop is the “foyer”, complete with elevator.
With floor-to-ceiling and wrap-around windows. How many times has Ana wandered out into the living room after a night of fun with Christian to find him staring despondently out the windows?
Christian’s bedroom, a place he forbade women to spend full night before Anna. Check out the view of the space needle!
The huge white marble bathroom with his/hers sinks looks just like it’s literary description and, of course, is “all white” just like everything else in the house.
Is the breakfast bar with its high bar stools just like you pictured? The only thing missing is Christian’s dutiful housekeeper, Mrs. Jones.
A marketing campaign that positioned Escala as Seattle’s top living experience may have caught author E.L. James’ eye. The penthouse apartment is almost identical to the description of Christian’s abode in the book!
