Hello Stylish readers! Are you all decorated for the holidays? I am! And, it only took 6 days! While I was busy decorating, I checked in on my little blog and was delighted to learn that my Holiday Mercury Glass post was featured on Tip Junkie! I’m tickled pink about it!
Now, I’ve been a very busy lady and I hope you like my latest project. This Faux Christmas tree may not be for everyone, but it’s perfect in my “Zebra Room” and I made it myself! And, didn’t purchase a thing to do it!! All week long, I kept telling my children that “I was making our Christmas tree this year. My children were a little worried that the big green traditional tree wasn’t going to show up! But, it did and this unusual tree is just for fun! Take a look…
I made a tree out of this…
These will work just fine. Not too skinny and interesting shapes. Umm, it’s kinda looking like a tree already. Sort of…
Krylon to the rescue. Painted out this urn with a satin brushed nickel paint. Looks like new! Woohoo!
Sprayed the branches white and set it in it’s new home. Some branches still had their acorns, which looked so great painted white! Bet you’re wondering how those branches are staying up?
Now, let me tell you something…these photos do not do this tree justice! It is stunning! You see it right after you walk in the front door and it stops traffic!
It was tricky wrapping the branches with the lights and impossible to wrap the smaller, more fragile, branches. Fake snow and some larger balls hide all the sandbags.
So, what do you think of my homemade Christmas tree? Want to make one yourself? Not ready for the super-sized 8 foot version that I made? Try small branches (painted of course) in a glass vase with some rock salt in the bottom and adorn with mini decorations! Presto! It’s a “mini me” tree!
Do me a favor…if you liked this project scroll up to the top and “like” us on Facebook. Thank you!
