Honestly, I struggle every year during this season with balancing my life, the holidays, my clients and my blog. I’m always so impressed with how seemingly effortlessly everyone cranks out all those holiday posts! I’m not sure how to achieve this without starting the process in October. And, I’m the type of gal who likes to enjoy the holiday during the actual holiday and not two months before. So, there’s that.
During the holiday season, I was also working with a client on the kitchen and family room remodel of her new house and hope to have some before and after pictures to share soon. It was a really fun project during a not-so-fun time. I received some terrible news. News that pretty much took the wind out of my sails. My younger brother was diagnosed with ALS. Having a loved one diagnosed with a terminal disease affects people in different ways. I kept plugging along with my client’s project and holiday preparations between bouts of being sad and completely unmotivated to do a thing. My brother is strong and is fighting this disease and I am choosing to be strong with him. Please keep him in your prayers.
And, with my amazing scheduling prowess…I scheduled a procedure on my leg the week before Christmas. What? Who does that? That was really not a good plan! The procedure left me uncomfortable and cranky for Christmas. Which was followed up with nerve damage from the procedure, that I am still dealing with today. It’s amazing how much you can’t get done when you need to sit down in between tasks, cause your leg feels like it’s on fire!
Wow! That was very wordy for me! If you are a regular follower, then you know that I’m all about the visuals and less about the words when I blog. Thanks for listening 🙂
Now, onto the fun stuff…. a bedroom makeover for my teen daughter. This project is slow going (see nerve pain complaints above). We have repainted the room and it is now a beautiful soft grey (Behr Nimbus Cloud). We have taken out all of her existing furniture and have given her some of the guest room furniture. The furniture is shaker style and has an orange wood tone. We plan on giving it a little glam makeover. The poster of Audrey is her inspiration piece. I’ll be posting on how we pull this room together onInstagram and Twitter. I’d love for you to follow along!
Let’s start with one of my favorite paints…Van Gogh Chalk Paint.
Ha! It still looks like Christmas! I think those tacky really cute seasonal vinyl tablecloths make the best drop cloths! I always buy them on clearance for about 50 cents each!
